Why Germany Have Been The Best Team At EURO 2024 (So Far)

With maximum points and 7 goals from their opening 2 games, Germany have moved from Euro 2024 outsiders to probable favourites. But rather than this just being a simple case of never writing them off, Julian Nagelsmann has got his team playing a staggeringly effective brand of football that's getting the most out of a talented side. From the clever use of Toni Kroos, to the next evolution of Kai Havertz, Adam Clery explains how they've done it.

I’m a German supporter but Spain has looked equally as good if not better

Kroos has been doing this for Madrid since 2016. The man is a menace. He will be severely missed.

I think Scots and Germans agree on one thing: it doesn't matter who wins the competition as long as it's not England

By the way i did appreciate your Channel even before the Euro. Your english is easy to understand and you really know what you're talking about.

Greetings from Germany

Against Switzerland you could see how to play against Germany. The swissmen have done a really good job in the defense, give no space for the german midfield to develop their game. But I think that the first goal should count. There were more than one other player at the ball after the foul and the referee didn't react. And in the second halftime a clear penelty wasn't given. The referee really disapoint in my opinion. It seems, that Rüdiger played with some issues and didn't have the speed he needed to defend properly. Havertz did a lot of work, but was not very effective. Fortunaly there is a Füllkrug ... what a joker.

Greeting from Munich. Nice Analysis and I want to add: The Scots in Munich were amazing! Off the pitch, they deserved way more than what they received on it. Go Scotland!

Socks & Sandals here. I believe you analyzed the system very good. The German team seems to be in shape just at the right time

Hey, I think Spain against Italy was the best team achievement I have seen for a long time.
Spain or Germany ... they are top favorites.

“If we do get a whole raft of German subs” idk, the last time England faced a lot of German subs it was a bad time…

Great video, your pronunciation of Mittelstädt was on point, so don’t worry about it.
Lots of love from Germany, the Scottish fans were one of the big highlights of the tournament so far❤

I'm clueless about football and flabbergasted by this analysis. But I love it obviously. Hope is blossoming

Spain has thrashed Croatia, WC semi finalists and Finalists, Italy current Euro champion so I think they've had the toughest opponents so far and yes they did beat them with ease without any problem at all which is scary.

It's interesting seeing a player such as Kroos making incisive passes that go straight through several layers of defending players to the attacking German player(s) in contrast to England's "horseshoe" passing around defenders.

I've also enjoyed Italy's flicks and 1-2s at speed to break through defences and presses and push down the pitch and wondered why the talented English players are not able to do this also?

Some questions will always remain mysteries it seems.

White socks and sandals reporting in. Really great analysis, thank you! Nagelsmann is already a legend. Bringing back Kroos, defining specific roles for each player on the pitch and on the bench, and picking players by recent form over past accomplishments (e.g. R.I.P Hummels and Goretzka, but brining in Andrich and Mittelstädt...) was very bold and a game changer so far. We have a really nice mix of young talent and seasoned pros now. A lot of people don't know all these new names in the squad, but in international football the team mixture is more important than individual names. This system seems to work now. 4 months ago everything was grim here in Germany, now we are back for another "Sommermärchen" (summer fairy tale). LETS FUCKIN GO!

Great video. We’re very excited about our team atm. Finally feels like we’ve got that winning spirit back on the pitch.

German here. Thank you for the really nice and clean analysis. I think the same. Our rotation in the front is what makes us lethal, but also vulnerable if the opponent plays with a deep down block. We still go for possession, but a lot of tries wont make it. But if one does...
Also the material on the bench is pretty good as well. We got Sane, we got Füllkrug, we got Führich, Undav, Müller, Can and more.

That flaw you’ve pointed out is huge. That space, when a decent team turns it over, is gaping. And once players are drawn out, they’ll be overwhelmed.

It’s only Scotland and Hungary.
