It’s just all so manipulative. I worked for a bank years ago buying debts. It was a dirty business.

There is a big difference between what is legal and what is moral. I have no respect for the law. These guys have no morality.

Its painful watching this rollercoaster of artificial wealth while so many suffer. In the United states you can no longer afford a 2 bedroom apartment anywhere in the country on minimum wage. How can you justifiably call it minimum wage? while it no longer provides minimum living status.

The value of all currencies will decline, since they are overprinting and backing it with "good faith and credit". What a joke!

Stock buybacks are not a black and white issue. There is a built in tax advantage to using buybacks as a return of capital to investors vs dividends. If you are a long term investor and 1$ is returned to you via a dividend tax on that dividend will be due that cycle. If you return 1$ via a buyback it will push the share price higher and you will have a paper gain but then can defer the taxes. It all comes down to a question of valuation. If companies are running buybacks with stock at low or fair prices there isn’t really anything wrong with it. However as you suggested if buybacks are happening with stock at unreasonable valuations then there certainly may be a conflict of interest in that case. I am a little confused what population demographics in China and art auctions have to do with stock buybacks?

Over time, the decoupling from productivity gains and worker compensation occurred about the time stock buy backs became extremely easier in 1982.
I think it is a method of hollowing businesses out, screwing both shareholders and workers in the process.
They should be made mostly illegal once again, only in M&A activity and special other circumstances that is advertised months in advance.

Holy crap! People sold their stock and took profits after the price went up? I thought that was the goal - Buy low, sell high. Your demand that we buy high and sell low is stupid. Your example has a deceptive lie - the researcher didn't research if any executives bought stock before the announcement - only if they sold after the announcement. I don't blame an executive selling some shares that he has had for a few years after the price goes up. In fact smart people do this to rebalance their portfolios. Your idea that we should be stupid and keep our portfolios unbalanced is vile and cruel.
