Right from the start of this channel I’ve been asked what I thought of Uniqlo selvedge denim. And the answer was always the same. I don't know. I’ve never taken a closer look. We’re going to change that today.

I buy a pair every two years or so. They are so legit and fade perfectly and the stretch is incredibly comfortable. They were my gateway drug into the good stuff, but I always keep these in the rotation. In a pinch, I can get a new pair for a nice event for the brand new dark look and then enjoy breaking them in all season again. Most importantly, they FIT better than any expensive pair I have ever tried.

These were my gateway drug into selvedge denim. I wear them all the time. Super comfy.

It's hard to beat anything Uniqlo makes when you compare quality vs $.

In the store near me, they do free alterations on all trousers, so you buy longer and then they hem them to the length you want for free (gets rid of the pre crease). So a tailored pair of selvedge jeans for under £40...it's a bargain.

Thorough analysis of a good value in denim. Like many others, this was my gateway into raw denim. I still think they are very good "entry level" jeans. As you said, they lack some of the fine details that a more prestige brand would offer: rivets, nice pocket bags, embossed iron buttons, etc... But at that price, you can't beat them.

Would like to mention that these go on sale sometimes too so the value is even more insane! I think its an incredible wardrobe staple that has tons of longevity since I’ve seen some pairs age very well after a few years.

Had the slim-fit Kaihara model. Super crispy. Wore them to shreds with minimal washing.
Had to retire them after 5 years. By this time, it had already transformed into a Heddels-worthy piece, with fantastic honeycombs and whiskerings.

I picked up a pair of Uniqlo selvedge jeans for $40 a couple of weeks ago and very impressed. They are less than half the price of Unbranded (which was my go to before) fit better and seem to have more sturdy construction (pockets don’t rip!). The material is nice but not quite what you’ll find on $150+ jeans. These are going to be my new daily wear though.
I would love to see them create a more expensive version with thicker denim.

Nudies were also my first pair back in 03 besides Levi’s and I’ve been through a lot of pairs and a lot of different companies since then. I liked the uniqlos for their pricing and cut when I first found them in 15? And have always had a fresh new pair in the closet in case I need them. The pricing is unbeatable considering the quality and I’d opt for these over the gaps offerings in the lower price points myself.

I bought a pair of these to serve as a crisp smart dark indigo jeans. I don't know better and I'm really quite happy with them.

Wow i love the look of them. Fact they are so simple in design and lack of rivets makes it look different than other stuff and super clean and minimalistic. I didn't expect design with so much character. Im saving for my first pare of salvage and looking at 22oz unbranded ones but this is really strong contender. Untill now i had only raw or unaged jeans that i enjoy a lot of fades from

These have pretty much become my favourite jeans and I have some quite expensive Atelier La Durances, Carhartt's and Edwins etc.

I'm very tall (202cm) and the 36 length of these (off the website) are the longest. I can double cuff them and show no ankle.

The denim is starting to honeycomb and taking form nicely now aswell.

They're amazing.

Thanks for validating my purchase. I know nothing about the selvedge world but these have been my goto jeans for a few years. Side note some of their selvedge jeans do have rivets they aren’t necessary but they exist.

Have 4 pairs of slim with elastine. Kaihara denim. Wore the hell out of them, still my favourite pants and I paid even less, around 30 euro per pair. I have 15-20 other denim, 3sixteen, edwins, nudies, unbranded, samurai etc, many are heavier but as for comfort and fit uniqlos are great. They faded beautifully and had zero quality problems. Arguably one doesnt need any other expensive brands unless you want heavier stuff.

I ordered a pair of Uniqlo slim stretch selvage w/ hemming. Mine came w/ rivets on the front pockets though. I was surprised how great they were! I only have experience w, $60 Levi’s, Wranglers, Everlane, and Naked & Famous stretch 12oz. The Uniqlo is by far the best fit and best hand of the jeans that I have tried. I’m done exploring $160 brands! Available in indigo and black, I’d love if they were available in light wash, and grey. Maybe the indigo and black will fade to light wash and grey over the course of a few yrs, IDK. A lot of Uniqlo is not that great IMO but these jeans, OCBD’s, Linen shirts, merino wool, and socks and heavy weight Tees are excellent basics that don’t disappoint.
