So I am from Brazil and here we have very few Starbucks (mostly in airports) and in my state it is a on going battle to not let a Starbucks open in here. Our state is big in coffee farming and because of the way they buy they coffee they drive the price down for the local farms what really harms the local economy.

For the cost of going to a Starbucks most people could own a decent espresso machine at home. I did the math on our home's Starbucks consumption and quickly learned we'd be better off with a good espresso machine. No regrets.

I worked at Starbucks and the waste (including the food waste) made me question why they even made a straw less lids.Also one of the worst jobs I’ve had, yes the benefits are good the sexual harassment, terrible management, and understaffing made me want to walk out every shift. Support your local coffee shop, trust me the quality is way better and you’re giving back to the community.

Not to mention that some of their drinks have nearly half the calories that you should consume in one day. Yes, one coffee-drink-thing could be more than an entire meal calorie-wise.

Their coffee tastes like hot cardboard water. There are plenty of far better choices, but I will give them points for consistency. It tastes the same no matter where you go. It is a little comforting if you're on a road trip or in an unfamiliar place and need some coffee. You've also got to give them points for popularizing the third space concept.

Starbucks straws in their sippy cup lids is the most dreadful sight, it stops me in my tracks every time.

I live in Perth, Australia and years ago Starbucks tried to break into the Australian market and opened up a bunch of stores but they didn't factor in that Australia is already littered with artisan coffee shops, so Starbucks had to close their stores because they were doing poorly in the market haha. Western Australia still doesn't have a Starbucks lol

Yeah... pre-covid I remember sitting in a McD's and watching a member of staff take the waste for the separate recycling bins, and tip it all into a bag with the general waste. I was horrified, and since then I've become so skeptical of anyone that claims be recycling their trash. 😒

You didn’t talk about the .25 to .50 cent discount for bringing your own I know some stores stopped due to pandemic laws but not all. Bringing your own Starbucks cup makes it cheaper coffee price and reusing.
