Former President Barack Obama issues statement on Joe Biden dropping out of presidential race

Former President Barack Obama issued a lengthy statement on Medium Sunday after Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race, thanking Biden for his service to the country.

"This outstanding track record gave President Biden every right to run for re-election and finish the job he started," Obama noted, before adding later: " For him to look at the political landscape and decide that he should pass the torch to a new nominee is surely one of the toughest in his life."

President Biden's decision to step down is a wise one. Continuing to burden him with the responsibilities of the presidency at his age would be tantamount to elder abuse. There is some concern about whether he fully comprehends his decision to drop out. Regardless, he should now take full advantage of the excellent care provided by Obama-care to rest both mentally and physically🙏🙏
