🥇 Stadium of the Year 2022: OPAP Arena

Stadium of the Year 2022 is... OPAP Arena! The Athens stadium beat off strong competition and is among the thirteen past winners of the Stadium of the Year competition. In addition to the AEK Athens facility, 35 other venues from six continents took part in the competition. OPAP Arena beat not only Polish venues, which complete the podium, but also great stadiums from other corners of the world - including Lusail Stadium and Jakarta International Stadium.

Why was this particular facility the winner? The effort and unity shown by AEK fans and other arena supporters during the vote for stadium of the year is admirable. In addition to the fan movement, the OPAP Arena is simply a beautiful, graceful and fitting facility. It is visually impressive and aesthetically pleasing, which undoubtedly also encouraged people from other countries to give one of their votes to OPAP Arena. Iam a huge Olympiacos fan I feel very proud and happy that a Greek stadium got voted as the best stadium of the year I hope and wish all the Greek teams will have moments and new stadiums as AEK ❤️🇬🇷

Hagia Sophia Opap Arena has 32, 5k capacity. Not such a huge stadium but not such a small as well. Enough for us. The stadium also has amazing facilities, it's own museums, and a great history behind it. The history of the world! We are proud for it! AEK Athens 💛🖤🦅

This stadium has a unique architecture, the best choice by far!! All others have modern designs but this one has Byzantine architecture. It is unique in the world!

It might not be the biggest, neither the most expensive nor the prettiest but it certainly has a character that other stadiums lack of. Most importantly it has such a connection with AEK fans that no other stadium in the world has. It's not an exaggeration when I am saying that many AEK fans stayed a bit longer in live just to see the stadium completed.
Unfortunately some didn't make it but AEK organization in the opening ceremony gave its respects to all those fans.

As Bartholomew, the archbishop of Constantinople, said: "AEK is not just a football club, AEK is mainly an idea, and ideas never die"

Im an Aek fan, to be fair Lusail and Jakarta stadiums are superior, and of course its gonna be if you put so much money.

The difference is Agia Sogia (OPAP Arena) has a long history. Passion for this team is unbelievable. And the atmosphere is something you need to experience to understand in this place.
