Quite a remarkable game - each level is complete different, adding new mechanics and surprises. Fiendishly hard, but very cool!

Man, I used to play this all night back b 86'-87'. I had weird little cousin who was genuinely afraid of the stage 'Vampire' & he would sprint out of the room when he heard the sound of the "flapping bat wings" hahaha

Watching this I realized I still remember my "patterns" for the first three levels.

To me the best and most addictive C-64 game.

I just found your link and (as it did with the others) it brought a huge smile to my face! When I was child I played this for hours (and hours, and hours…) I was just referencing the level with the chickens a couple of months back but couldn’t remember which game it was on until I saw this. I still get just as nervous watching this-if you played it enough you’d be able to anticipate what was going to happen before it happened and ace each level. I knew every move that you were going to make before you made it here-same as I would’ve. Thanks for the trip down memory lane-much appreciated!❤

Throughout my childhood, my aunt and uncle from Pittsburgh (who were fairly wealthy) would come up to visit my grandma and us (our family; me, my mom, my little sister, and little brother, all lived with grandma and my mom's sister, Aunt Debbie.) And every time they would bring up their amazing Commodore 64 computer with them, and we would all play videogames together... with one certain _special_ game being the most popular: _Jumpman, _ with which we would all hold tournaments together every Christmas!

My, mom, my little brother, my Aunt Debbie, and Aunt Sis, Uncle Andy, and cousins Eric and Rachel and Allison who'd come up from Pittsburgh, would all pile into chairs around the computer where we'd set it up in the warm cozy dining room, listening to Christmas music, looking at the sparkling Christmas tree with its blinking lights and presents piled underneath, and watching through the windows as the snow fell outside, all waiting our turns to tackle the next level and collect all the bombs to save Jupiter.

("Dunh, dunh-dunh-dunh, DUNH-dunh-DUNH-dunh, dunh-dunh-DUNH!")

Well, in 1987 my aunt and uncle got our family the very best Christmas present we had ever received: a brand new _Commodore 64_ system of our very own, complete with disk drive, dot matrix printer, an official full-color Commodore monitor, and a box full of videogames on floppy disk! It was so amazing!

Well, included in that box of floppies alongside rad games such as _Ghostbusters, _ _Bruce Lee, _ _Choplifter, _ _Fort Apocalypse, _ _Raid on Bung-Ling Bay, _ and _Raid Over Moscow, _ the also made sure to include our own copy of _Jumpman_ so we could hold our own tournaments any time we wanted!

Aunt Debbie died suddenly three years ago, out of the blue, and Grandma followed a few months later. But my Aunt Sis is coming up to visit in just a few months for the first time in years, and I've still got a Commodore 64 emulator somewhere on my laptop, and the _Jumpman_ ROM in a folder somewhere... after seeing this and being reminded of those good times, I think I just _have_ to ask if mom, Aunt Sis, and my brother would all like to hold another _Jumpman_ tournament in memory of happy days gone by. I'm hoping they'll _jump_ at the chance! (pun definitely intended!😁)

This was my all time favorite commodore 64 game. The controls were tight compared to other games. I loved the sound of his tippy tappies when we would run. The slow moving bullets always terrified me before blasting in my direction. Each level was so different from the others. Amazing game.

I remember playing this game in the 80's. It was an extraordinary pain to progress through, and I gave up after the 4th or 5th level. Just couldn't get any further. It was remarkable seeing the movements made in the game, and how orchestrated everything was. Complexity without appearing complex.

The most fun part of this game was trying to get the last ring while dying, or in some really crazy unrecoverable position so that the game stopped after the last ring, and you had struck a pose in mid air!

There is no other classic like this game

I remember playing this on dos in the mid eighties. Pretty much the same as this version except it had CGA colours and I don't think it had music. This game stood out from others. It really felt fun to play and, although hard, it was quite forgiving. As long as you touched a platform Jumpman would automatically climb up, something really unique to this game. Another standout of this era to be remembered is Hard Hat Mack.

On the off chance you _didn’t_ hate your life as a child, there was always Jumpman.

We had Jumpman and absolutely loved it! I remember coming home from middle school and finding my Dad playing level 30 and watching him beat the game!!!! He was the first to get to 30 and I believe the only one to finish it.

A lot of creativity in this for such an early and at a glance simple platformer

Your timing is impeccable! I'm currently in the process of discovering the Atari 8 bit computers' games library.
As a C64 owner, it's fascinating to discover how many of the games I had assumed were C64 originals, actually originated on these early Atari computers.
With such a huge library, I'm slowly working my way through the alphabet and have recently reached the letter J.
I was delighted to rediscover Jumpman, and was intrigued to find that it too, originated on the Atari 8 bits. (I'm discovering that many of the great early C64 games did.)

Just this weekend I was comparing the Atari and C64 versions, with interest.
So when your video popped up in my notifications, it brought a huge smile to my face! Such perfect timing!
It's great to see you discovering and appreciating such a gem of a game, after all these years — and playing it so damn well. (What are you playng it on?)
Jumpman is one of those games that is fondly rembered by those who have played it; an endearing game posessing far more charm and character than it's deceptively simple looking graphics would lead one to expect. What a nice surpise your video was.

The last time I played this was probably thirty years ago on an old Apple II at school. I still remember most of the levels.
