In this tutorial I will show you how to improve the copying of an extensive list to the mind map.

The list presents a three-day course program in which I will take part next week.
As you can see, the list is quite extensive and contains 4 levels of nesting.
I would like these nestings to be preserved after moving the content to the map.

The final result should be arranged like in this example.
So finally the structure will be very convenient to put some notes on each topic during the course.

The problem is that after pasting the list on the map, the final result is as follows.
Unfortunately, no nesting and empty branches appeared where there are spaces between the lines.
You can proceed to manual rearrangement of branches. However, with extensive lists, it will be a time-consuming and gruelling process.
Therefore, it is a good idea to do the initial processing of the list in a simple text editor.

I will use the notepad++ editor which is very powerful and is free.
You will find Download link below the movi.

I suggest a small experiment. Let's copy a simple 3 level branch into a text editor and analyze the effect.
As you can see the branches from subsequent nesting positions are shifted by one tab relative to the parent object.

Let's copy our list to the text editor and delete empty lines.
With notepad it’s so simple.

The title "3 Day Course Program" is the first level so I leave it unchanged.
In turn, I will transfer everything else to a lower level of nesting by adding a tab

Then, highlight the text block and press the tab key.
The second level will be "Day # 1" "Day # 2" and "Day # 3" so next step is to mark the blocks below to move to another tab.

Now, we have reached the third level in which there are chapters. It remains to move the topics under chapters. let's do it.

We could take advantage of the fact that all topics under chapters start with a dash and use the ubiquitous find and replace tool to improve the last stage. You can try do it yourself.

Nearly done. The list in current state is ready to be copied to xmind.

Now it is time to format branches according to your preferences.

For those who are interested in their development in internet marketing, I provide a download link to the Xmind map, in which I have included all the possible development directions offered by The Internet Business School founded by Simon Coulson who is a highly successful internet entrepreneur – having generated more than £20 million in online sales across five separate businesses, using the power of the internet.

That's all for now, hope to see you again in my next tutorial.
