I usually agree with watchmojo... but this video is just stupid. Star Wars has not surpassed Lucas, because Star Wars is Lucas. Kathleen Kennedy and Disney can't touch anything Lucas has done. I'd rather watch the prequels 100 times over before I'd watch The Last Jedi ever again. Every single movie Lucas has done added so much depth to the Star Wars Universe. So many different planets, races, ships, it's amazing. And prequels, no matter what you say tells a good story. It's about how the sith infiltrated the republic, created a fake war, made the republic fall to an empire, wipe out the jedi order, about how a kid rose to be one of the most powerful sith lords, and how obi wan went from an apprentice to a master. What has Disney done? Remade episode 4 and called it episode 7. And Episode 8 effectively ruined every Star Wars movie, including their own episode 7. So give me a break on Lucas bashing. I'd much rather watch Lucas sequel trilogy than this crap Disney is making

Why can't anyone just recognize that the prequels were steeped in elements far deeper and more relevant than "believability"? The entire saga explores a very rich philosophical subtext...in the style of a Greek drama or epic poem. He bows to no-one in terms of inventiveness, pacing, and the all-important creative vision. Some people just really need to read a classical myth for once, instead of competitively crushing beer cans on their heads every day.

#5 yeah George thought his movie was terrible and even went to Steven Spielberg for advise.
#4 The Star Wars fanbase are like a cancer and can't blame him if he retired because of whiny ass people. Not everyone was happy with the retro approach either.
#3 I don't see why it's an issue with other directors made the two other films, without George's direction in the story they wouldn't have any material to work with.
#1 yeah the prequels had a bumpy road and are not perfect by any means but they are a lot better than the new trilogy and not because it's directed by George Lucas but simply put it had a better story. If the use of CGI is a problem in the prequels than why does the sequel Trilogy get a pass?

Of course he doesn't like the stupid retro approach in the sequels. When he created the Originals he made something new and never seen before. That is why they were so successful. If he had made old Chaplin movies without sound nobody would have watched them. That is why the Sequels are not Star Wars. They are just another bunch of random and only box office aimed somethings.
