D-129 SANTA FE VINTAGE WEST Railfan Railroad Writes:
“In one and a half hours Charles Smiley’s “Santa Fe Vintage West”, does a remarkable job of taking us from WWII up to around 1995. As I watched I appreciated both the selection of footage chosen and the research applied. Charles Smiley’s frame by frame enhancements are an exhaustive process and yet very much worth the effort. Whether you watch this as a railfan or modeler, I can’t think of a better way than to spend an hour and a half.”

In August 1978 I quit Conrail in NJ and got a job with the ATSF out of Denver, running trains on the Joint Line. I still kick myself for that move. I put in 8 years with the Santa Feces, 3 and a half out of Denver, then 5 years out of Fresno, Cali. I worked with some of the scum of the Earth, as well as scumbag bosses. Someone in Chicago had an absolute hatred of engineers, I've never experienced anything like it before or since. Blue and yellow bellringers, I could' believe it. Maintenance was a pretty paint job. Take it and protest it later, that was the philosophy. I went to AMT for the Zone 12 start in Oct. 1986, and did not look back, good riddance.
