This webinar recording provides practical options and resources for implementing postpartum depression screening into the pediatric setting. Universal screening identifies mothers in need of support and/or treatment, enabling them provide the best care for their child. Untreated postpartum depression can affect infant development, resulting in lower cognitive performance, dysregulated attention and arousal, and other negative health outcomes. Only 64% of new mothers enrolled in Medicaid plan to complete their postpartum visits, yet 92% of Medicaid enrolled two month old babies receive a well child check. This webinar provides practical input from clinicians in Minnesota to help capitalize on infant wellness visits as an opportunity to address postpartum depression and improve outcomes for both the mother and infant. Presented by Tessa Wetjen, MDH; Brian Lynch, MD, Pediatrics, Mayo Family Clinic Northwest; and Shannon Neale, MD, Family Practice, Park Nicollet.
