Jeep Wrangler JK Rear Shock Replacement

Easily change those rear shocks with OEM replacement. If you're like me, the 33s started hitting the fender going over bumps and railroad tracks. After 10 years and 75,000 miles, they're completely shot.

Compared to other shock replacements, these are super easy and only require a 16mm, 18mm, and a ratchet/drill. If you decide to torque, 65 ft-lbs on the bottom and 37 ft-lbs on the two top bolts.

10 years 75K and lots of railroad tracks. They don't owe you anything 👍. That was an easy job to do.

LOOK HOW EASY THIS IS. WOW! My 2016 needs a cutting torch to remove the lower bolt.

Was there any reason for you to compress them UPSIDE DOWN before installing them? I sold oil shocks and gas shocks for cars, pickups, med duty trucks and 18 wheelers, for 43 years and NEVER even heard of someone "exercising" a shock before installing it. I don't know if its a good idea to do that with them upside down since you might introduce air bubbles in a chamber where you don't want them. Who knows...

Thanks. Great video and seems like an easy DIY job. Is there any reason why I would consider upgrading the shocks or is stock replacement the way to go?

Is this doable with the car on the ground? Seems like it should be since I would assume the suspension would drop when you put on the jackstands.
