Damn this story hits gone for me. I lost my darling 3 1/2 years ago and I searched anything and everything to bring him home or to undo what happened with no answers. I spent many nights sobbing and days without eating because I blame myself for his absence and to this day I’d still sacrifice myself for a chance to reset the day that he was taken. Just give me an hour to reverse and I’d happily burn for my eternity.. this story made me begin to sob in a jealousy I know is only because I king for that resolve as well… if only life were able to be a story

great story, really well told. Quite a difference from the tried and true "devil's bargain" story. Here the Devil makes a point that a lot of writers miss: that if the bargain you want to make is not a ultimately selfish one, that the devil will not accept that bargain, because he cannot take a soul for an act of selflessness. I found it both interesting and touching that the devil showed the young man not only compassion, but gave him good advice----that his deceased wife would not want this. If she truly loved him, she would not want him to die, or to be in hell. Once upon a time, the Devil was an angel, and perhaps he still is, for all that he is "fallen". Maybe he is showing it here, in giving this young couple mercy. Two supernatural beings looking with compassion on the lives of two human lovers.

This was so well written! Easily felt the pain of Main Character. I cared about him, was rooting for him. Anyone that can write a character that is not only likable but also creates an interest in that character in a short story really has skills!

In addition to the writing is making sure the right narrator does the piece bc otherwise everything can be crap immediately with wrong narrator. Not only does LhH read the story but I always believe he’s the character he’s voicing

The devil did this guy a solid. Traded his soul to father time since he couldn't take it for himself. They don't call him the light bringer for nothing you know. They may be the devil, but they're still an angel in principle. Just because you fall, doesn't change what you were before. The deeper the dark the brighter the light after all.
