Πόσο ευδιάκριτος είναι ο σωματικός από τον ψυχικό πόνο; Τι θα συνέβαινε αν η σχέση γιατρού και ασθενή δεν περιοριζόταν αυστηρά στην κλινική εξέταση; Έλα στη θέση μου, Γιατρέ! …ή αλλιώς η δύναμη της ενσυναίσθησης, η ικανότητα δηλαδή να μπαίνει ο γιατρός στη θέση του ασθενή, προσεγγίζοντάς τον ανθρωποκεντρικά και με εμπιστοσύνη και ο καταλυτικός ρόλος της στην ορθότητα μιας διάγνωσης.

How distinct is the physical from the mental pain? What would happen if the relationship between a doctor and his patient wasn’t limited strictly to a clinical examination? Empathize with me, Doctor! ... or else the power of empathy, the ability of a doctor to come to his patient's position, approaching him anthropocentric and in confidence and its catalytic role to the accuracy of a diagnosis.

Vassilios Kiosses was born in Kastoria. He graduated from the Psychology Department of the University of Crete, in Rethymno. After he completed three years of graduate studies in Person-Focused Counselling.Since 2013, he is a PhD candidate in the Medical School of the University of Ioannina. The subject of his thesis was the training of the Medical School students and Health professionals , in Empathy. He is the inspirer and the trainer of “Empathize with me Doctor”, an innovative experiential program which educates Medical School students in Empathy, lasting 60 hours, a unique targeted program in Europe. Following these encouraging results from this training program, he started teaching the course "Empathy in doctor’s – patient’s relationship" at the Medical School in Ioannina. Since 2013, he is also Abuse Counselor at the Advisory Center of Female Violence Victims at the Municipality of Kastoria.

Δυστυχώς στους επαγγελματίες υγείας συναντάμε συχνά ναρκισσιστικά χαρακτηριστικά (χωρίς να θέλω να στιγματίσω τους γιατρούς, αλλά σε θέματα υγείας είναι μείζονος σημασίας ),
με αποτέλεσμα την έλλειψη ενσυναίσθησης. Εξού και η ρήση των ασθενών που χωρίς να έχουν γνώσεις ψυχολογίας λένε το πολύ ωραίο, "Καλός γιατρός, μα πάνω απ' όλα άνθρωπος ", όταν συναντούν έναν ειδικό υγείας με ενσυναίσθηση . Εξαιρετική η προσπάθεια και ο αγώνας που κάνετε, συνεχίστε σε αυτόν το δρόμο γιατί πραγματικά η ανθρωποκεντρική προσέγγιση ιατρού- ασθενή είναι θεμελιώδης!
