I cant say I blame though. Im sure theyve always judt gone off their best guess. People could write that off as your best attempt back in the day. Now it can result in you getting even more backlash if you missed it. Even if it was a close call. VAR gives them a safety net to protect themselves from backlash.

The real issue is how long VAR takes, not that they use it a ton.
