Thank you very much for this, as I am an amateur meteorologist self taught. This information comes in extremely handy.  I really enjoy all of your segments and I have learned valuable information from watching your videos. They have helped me to become an even better forecaster, than I was before.

Great information. I'll be coming to the Pivotal Weather site a lot, and watching your other weather videos. Thank you.

Z = Zulu Time. You can type "What time is it Zulu Time" into google and it will tell you what time it is now in Zulu. Zulu is UTC and also known as GMT or Greenwich Mean Time. If you type into Google "Greenwich Mean Time, " you'll also get the current Zulu time.

This is really interesting, I'd like to learn some basics on how to read weather models before going backpacking out in the mountains. It's hard to get forecasts for remote areas, especially at altitude.

Great tutorial!
Every look into sudden stratospheric warming events and are there any tools for that?

Also, I've noticed the models are hinting to some interesting weather on the East coast near the last week of January. Any ideas or guesses?

Not sure if you are looking at these anymore but I will ask anyway. When I am looking at “ Total Snowfall,
Model Ratio (in)” I am assuming the numbers on the map I am seeing are liquid inches and not snow.
Am I correct on this? That would mean a reading of 1.7 would mean 17 inches of snow correct? Maybe I am doing the math wrong?
:)
