The color balance setting of the camera affects the appearance of the playback JPG even when shooting in RAW. Always leaving the camera set to Daylight WB (5500°K) provides a consistent baseline to judge the color temp of the ambient by looking at the playback: normal in daylight, cooler in cloudy overcast and open shade, warmer indoors under 3200° sources.

Here because it is cloudy with no direct sun / shadows the color temp of light is probably 6000-6500° K.

When adding flash you want to know what the color temp of the bare flash is. That varies by manf. but they are usually cooler than Daylight so here on a cloudy day it is probably a good match to the ambient. So why use flash here? To create a highlight pattern on the face because the ambient light is so flat. Pose the face into the ambient then add flash on the same downward vector and they blend together seamlessly.

Adding the blue gel to the flash will make the foreground cooler than the background but when the foreground is adjusted back to normal in post processing it will make the background illuminated by the ambient only seem warmer by comparison.

If the models held a gray card in a test shot it would be very simple to get the gelled flash shots neutral by clicking the eyedropper on card then adjusting to taste by eye from that R=G=B baseline. The metadata WB adjustment can then be copy pasted into all the other RAW files.
