so this was Father of the Bride before Steve Martin's version?

This was an ok movie but I really wish Alda as writer and director focused more of this story on Anthony Lapaglia and Ally Sheedy. They were the very best characters who made the movie and they needed more screen time. Not a bad effort but needed more focus on the good stuff and there was some good stuff but sadly not enough. The following years Father of the Bride with Steve Martin also released by Disney is a better, similar film. Catherine O’ Hara was also funny but sadly had nothing to do hardly. She and Joe Pesci were better later in 1990 in Home Alone even though they only share one scene together in that film.

This movie had all the ingredients, but it didn’t figure out the recipe. Father of the bride is much better.
