How Roche Securely Scales a Data Mesh on Snowflake

As the world's largest biotech company, Roche has goals of doubling patient access to novel diagnostics solutions and achieving medical advances at half the cost to society. Compliantly and securely delivering data products and democratizing data consumption in a decentralized environment are critical to reaching these goals. To support this ambition, Roche's Data & Analytics Team had to solve data access management, security, and governance at scale. Very interesting to see how IMMUTA manages complexity of access control policies and provides simplicity for business users. I also like the fact that tags are used to classify data products. Database/schemas are good logical containers to organize data assets by data domains and technical layers of data platforms, but data products can be cross-domains and cross-layers. Tagging can provide extra dimensions of classification that speak to business users.
