Desde la gran versión de Otto Klemperer no habia escuchado una interpretación tan cósmica de la obra. Excelente grabación con sonido 5.1.

Dona nobis pacem. Beethoven's most generous musical gift - and that's really saying something! Thank you that was a truly beautiful performance of a wonderful masterpiece.

True, deeply committed performance in service of Beethoven' music. Beautiful violin solo in Benedictus. No forced professional egos like in some other famous orchestras...

Theodore Adorno's famous article on the Missa Solemnis is a sad misunderstanding of the work. Adorno, an atheist, had no real understanding of the enormity of this mass. Beethoven, as Adorno's article shows, WAS a believer, and the conventional aspects of this work show a readiness to conform to the liturgical norms of his times. The work is too enormous and personal to be suitable for liturgical worship, yet it is in its own way still a liturgical work. It is Beethoven's own personal reflection on the words of the liturgy. So it is that the conventional elements of the music serve a genuine purpose. But it is nevertheless a highly original work, which dwarfs all other settings of the texts of the Ordinary of the Mass. The Missa deviates progressively from convention as it progresses. The Credo is a very personal setting of the text. The Sanctus takes into the realms of Scripture, while the Agnus Dei reveals it to be a Missa in tempore bello, with the war rolling progressively over the listener, the final drum strokes and forlorn pleas for peace proclaiming that there is no lasting peace, or rather, a peace "the world cannot give." This is an immeasurably titanic work, and though many have performed it, few have understood what it is they are performing. Thielemann does.

No question that the music and its interpretation are first class.
However the opening statement is a bit rich! Dresden was sadly destroyed but so were many citys in the UK, starting with London, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland. etc.

ベートーベンの音楽芸術の集大成である偉大な作品。
その為、合唱をはじめとする演奏も難曲です。
