Sir why can't we directly input the whole thing as a string because from what I've learnt is that anything enclosed within double quotes is a string like
346, this is an integer but
"346", this is a string similarly
'346' this is a character
So why can't we input it directly like

Scanner sc= new Scanner(System.in);
Sopln("input");
String st= sc.nextLine();
And then get to printing like
Sopln("CLASS:"+ st.charAt(0));
And so on...
Please can anyone explain where I'm going wrong because our teacher hasn't made us write any program using parseInt function
