Actually, no. A chessboard has 8x8 pieces, checkers is played on a 10x10 grid.
Also, the term 'checkerboard' is used for both the board for Checkers, and anything that has the repeating pattern of equal sized squares with alternating colours :-) (Cfr Merriam-Webster dictionary)

i don't think you play checkers. that is not a checker board. a checker board has 64 squares, made up from 8 columns and 8 rows. ;) but great tutorial anyways! ;P
