I got requested to do a "review" of the new Malco Eagle Grip Locking Pliers. While I really don't like to do reviews I thought a comparison video might do the trick. I compare them to Vintage Vise Grips, Bollman Grips, import Craftsman and a couple of other vintage models. I rambled on a bit so Long story short, Yes I quick like them and would recommend them...but only if want a very refined plier.

I totally remember that pinchpoint playing around with these when I was 10 years old. I noticed it and was like better not get pinched. And I never have. Probably because I never use vise locks. I only figured out what they were for recently since there was almost always a better tool for the job.

The Eagle Grips are very well made and really tempered to last. Project Farm did a comparison with a bunch of locking pliers. They are a bit pricey though. The original Vice Grips are best value for the money. I paid almost $60 for them now.

The Eagle Grips are the best, but I find vintage USA-made ones at garage/estate sales every month for $1-5 each.

..FYI, those Craftsman's are contract-produced by Vise-Grip(same as vise-grip for all practical purposes-look at the numbers forged in the jaw and overall design= identical)..those say "China" on them, so they are the same as the current China-made Vise-Grips. Back in the late '80's, early '90's, I know Vise-Grip manufactured locking pliers for True Value Hardware stores, Master Mechanic brand..they may have made them for others, too, I don't know. I remember an old Craftsman pair from the early '80's someone else at work had, looked a lot like your "Nu-Vise" pair(Craftsman has changed suppliers several times over the years)..and like yours, I remember them pinching the sh*t out of my hands..I hated them. I actually despise any of them with the "reverse release" style lever, I MUCH prefer the Vise-Grip style release. I also dislike any of them with the big rubber covers and no release lever(like your Craftsman's) that have to be pulled apart..pain in the @ss to release...

Malco is closing the plant in Dewitt Nebraska so there will no longer be USA made vise grips thank god I had bought 2 pairs of them earlier this year so they will last me for the rest of my life I think what killed Malco was the really high prices it is really a shame though because I was really hoping that more vise grips would be made back here again maybe Snap On will take over the plant because if not then there will be no USA made vise grips again.
