Fixing eBay Junk - 4 Sega Saturns - Part 1 Unboxing & Testing

I bought a box of 4 defective Sega Saturn consoles online. In this video I open them, test them and try to determine how to fix them.

That clicking noise, when you hear that its the laser out of focus and it is trying to read the disc, so it is physically hitting the bottom of the disc with the LENS and will damage the DISC Bottom and Laser Lens!! Usually this happens when the Laser is Weak.

Those games you got for $10 were part of a pack-in group late in the Saturn's life. That's why they are in sleeves.

The CR2032 battery in the back of the Saturn unit is used to power the internal clock and the internal memory. I think it's primarily to retain the memory and clock when the system is not connected to an AC outlet. In other words, you lose all of your internal memory save files if this battery dies. I got a memory cartridge for not only this reason, but also because the internal memory isn't very large anyway (much like the Sega CD/Mega Drive CD internal memory).

The last Saturn sounded more like its laser doing some crazy bouncing trying to read disc.

Saturn is one of my fav systems, even tough I dont own one right now. I may try to import one from Japan and replace the power board to get it working on 230v. Another thing is the games. Here where I live those are ridiculously expensive

No spinning is 1. Dirty laser 2. Busted laser. #2 is pretty rare. Seen it on YouTube, but never experienced it and I own a LOT of Saturns.

You can play music cds in the saturns you dont need games to test

I have a Playstation 1 and it's in horrible condition. Not only is the door for the disc is sticky and does'int work but when forcing the disc tray open and inserting a game and turning it on like normal the lite turns on, but no image because I don't have the AV out cables for it. Also the open button is VERY sticky and likes to get stuck down. Do you have any tips for this (other than getting a AV cable)?

Without seeing the other vids, I'm going to say they ALL WORK. Saturns NEVER DIE. They just get minor repairs.
