Commercials of the 70s and 80s were so simple. They had a jingle, a mascot, and a family theme.

I have had this jingle in my head for the last 8 hours. I'm home sick. You know, I was about 10 when this came out. And it's just bringing in my head, they should bring that back, that was a great jingle.

Ralston Purina used to advertise a ton on "Wonderful World of Disney". This and Chuck Wagon commercials.

This famous jingle features a number of session singers, but at the end of the jingle from the 0:26 mark you'll hear a female voice take the lead on the words "Chicken of the Sea" ... that's the voice of Bonnie Herman. "Cheese glorious cheese!" "Go with the spirit... the spirit of 76!" "And like a good neighbor, State Farm is there." "There's more for your life at Sears!" "Fly the friendly skies!" Those are some of Bonnie Herman's greatest jingle hits that we all remember.

I used to hum this jingle to myself as a kid! If I'm not mistaken, I believe this was shot outside the house that was used for the show "Eight is Enough" (1977-82.) It's heavily featured in the opening credits, with everyone running outside to build a people pyramid. Can't miss those red shutters! 🤓

The guys singing along with Bonnie or Ruth sound exactly like Don Shelton and Gene Puerling, which makes me lean towards Bonnie since they were all in the Singer Unlimited doing jingles at this time.

In 1990, Ralston Purina sold the brand to Thai Union Group of Thailand, because of the merger. The cannery is still in San Diego California till this day.

"Ask any mermaids you happen to see what's the best tuna... CHICKEN of the sea". Remember that jingle. As far as I'm concerned, it's tuna, and it's good!

Does the government even inspect tuna anymore?
