The bigger issue when you progress is you become everyone's punching bag, from the client, firm's management and staff/interns below. Somehow you need to be the one with all the answers for everyone. Name me another job that makes you have so much emotional tolerance for EVERYONE and EVERYTHING AROUND YOU. The job is bs and meaningless, like you said the partner group want to grow their book of business, over promise on laughably small # of billable hours to the client. You will ultimately be the one working your ass off.
