The Pakistani city of Lahore has been named the ‘world’s most polluted city’ by an air- quality monitoring platform. The dubious title, announced on November 17, 2021, comes as calls grow from residents for officials to find solutions even as the megacity remains blanketed in stagnant clouds of acrid smog. Lahore’s air quality has worsened in recent years due to low-grade diesel fumes and crop-burning. But authorities blame neighbouring India as the source of the pollution, claiming air-quality figures have been exaggerated.

As a Lahori, all I can say is here people don't know how to control it or even if they are well educated, pollution is not a common topic! Especially air pollution. My own father who loves cars was talking about buying mehran and kia as a second car and I had to remind him those cars release unfiltered CO² and N² which is extremely harmful for humans. On the other hand, on Lahore motorway (idk which area/part) I have seen black smoke out of factories, and there are factories between the city (Quaid e Azam Industrial Area is the name). I think the government should upgrade the factories first, then ban cars releasing unfiltered gases and cars with no nuclear coolants. And ofc close the schools for atleast a week during the process so children don't get sick, they are the future!
