Interesting Paul…I don’t think I know exactly what is going on…are you improving your charging device? Looks cool!

"What's the purpose of the adhesive side".

What's the purpose of this tape, can you guess? It's a glazing edge tape for stained glass, for glass artists, it's not made for you. After you make your individual glass pieces that comprise the glazing, you put this tape around the edge of the glass pieces, with the adhesive on the glass, which is convenient that the tape just holds on there and doesn't try to run away thanks to the adhesive, it wasn't so easy back in the day. Then you go in with a feisty soldering iron and flood all the gaps between the tape, between the glass pieces, traditionally lead would be used, today tin-lead or maybe just tin, and you flood those gaps with solder. In the process, the adhesive actually degrades, it's not high temperature stable, but the tape and the solder end up wrapping around the edge of the glass such that it's held in firmly and is only coming out under exteme duress.

Well unfortunately things are a little bad in efficiency department. I mean apps are getting ever bigger and ever less efficient, so more power is needed to run them. The phones come with a giant screen that needs power, and a giant battery, 5000 typical. Now think how long it would take to charge, it would take 3 hours to charge. I have seen phones in microUSB era which already had bigger batts which take 5 hours to charge. With a fast charger, you can give the phone a daily boost say from 20% to 80% in just over half an hour, which is so useful.

As to USB-C well it wasn't needed when it wasn't needed. But also MicroUSB was quite flawed, prone to breaking, and you had to insert it trice in all different orientations two of them plus the quantum superpositions until it fit. But now that one or another device has USB3 capabilities or alt modes or power delivery enhanced, and now that you do have USB-C devices in your ecosystem, i feel the complete changeover to USB-C cannot go fast enough, even if i don't mind MicroUSB myself, just to reduce the inventory of connectors and cables that you need to handle for your daily tasks. Just so you can plug most things in without looking. It'll still be prone to breaking but now differently.
