Can you make a metal fishing lure with a 3D printer?

Показать описание
Using 3d printer to make fishing lures is nothing new, people have been messing around with this at least on youtube for over a decade, so I have really turned up late to the party.
Last year on finding myself having moved and without a workshop, just as the Lockdowns began I started messing around with CAD software and 3D printers really for a bit of fun and also because a3d printer really can be a workshop on its own albeit with limitations. That main limitation is time, it takes forever to print most things, and with larger lures I could probably make the lures in wood by hand a lot faster. But for making masters and then taking moulds from them you can really speed up the production part. Using cad software to design lures is something industry has been doing for a very long time, designs can be quite easily tuned into instructions for cnc machines and other industrial processes.
Is cad and 3d printing the best way to make lures at home? I don’t think it is, I think it is down to whatever you enjoy and although this an amazing tool so is a Stanley 99e.
CAD Software
Fusion 360, This is available free as an individual for non commercial use with some limitations namely the amount of projects you can have open at one time. It is cloud based and needs an internet connection for a lot of functions. I really didn’t find it easy to learn how to use this software and had to follow along with alot of youtube tutorial videos on the subject which really helped. It took me a couple of months doing 1 hour practice sessions daily to get to some level of confidence. The software allows for vast possibilities and really I have only just scratched the surface here.
I am not CAD expert but there are alternatives available.
