The New Evangelicals exists to support those who are tired of how evangelical church has been done before and want to see an authentic faith lived out with Jesus at the center. On this channel, you'll see videos from our founder Tim Whitaker and our incredible guests as they react and respond biblically to topics such as Christian Nationalism, church hurt, terrible Christian movies, bad conservative Christian takes, and MUCH more!

We are committed to building a caring community that emulates the ways of Jesus by reclaiming the evangelical tradition and embracing values that build a better way forward. If you’ve been marginalized by your faith, you are welcome here. We’ve built an empathetic and inclusive space that encourages authentic conversations, connections and faith. Whether you consider yourself a Christian, an exvangelical, someone who's questioning your faith, or someone who's left the faith entirely, you are welcome here!

I was raised in the WEC (white evangelical church), educated in one of the best evangelical seminaries in the world, & made it through 38 years before I suddenly started to realize that I was basically living in a racialized version of the Matrix. I'm now in my 27th year as an anti-racist, civil rights activist, black history researcher & white guy disruption voice fighting Christian nationalism. I walked away from racial privilege, left the WEC & joined a black church. Nearly all my friends & most of my family turned away from me.

I don't regret one bit of it. Being free of that cancerous influence has been magnificent.

Black Americans have been telling White Americans for years about these people. So has Tim Wise. Look him up.

I swear, if he refers to white settlers as the "Natives" of America one more time, I'm going to lose it.

I'm very thankful for Christians such as yourselves stepping up and speaking out. Thank you for taking Christ's words for what they actually were.

It's a failure of love. They just don't love people who are not just like themselves.

White exceptionalism is definitely alive and kicking.

My grandfather recently passed, he was born in 1937 and he never learned to read partially due to the discriminatory educational, labor and social practices. He still retired but was limited in his own business endeavors because of this. The prison industrial system had my father before he was 17, so grandpa was my father figure. Now tell me there are no current impacts from Jim crow and slavery. Pops could only teach me how to operate a business, but not how to legalize and maximize profits, and that set me back in THIS generation.

There's absolutely been a rise in racism and incidents. My wife and I are leaving Parke Co Indiana over it. She's been accused of horrid stuff, we've been swatted and it's gone to the level of personal property destruction. So absolutely there's been a rise in what we'd term hate crimes.

God doesn't want me to hate. He opens my eyes to the nonsense that is Maga.

What he’s saying is what the Nazis said with a milder expression.

This was a VERY important video for me to watch. While he shows his true colors by the end, the truth is: I often struggle to recognize when harmful rhetoric is being delivered outside of shouting megalomaniac speeches. This style of rhetoric, so softly delivered, in a gentle tone, by someone who doesn't "look" angry or threatening, with scripture references thrown in, is often so difficult for me to sift through. Something will feel "off", but I'll struggle to identify it; I've been well trained to accept this style of speech-giving as inherently trustworthy. This break down was so, SO helpful to me, personally, as we continue to get more and more of these...well..."wolves in sheep's clothing" coming the forefront. My own deprogramming practice continues. THANK YOU, Tim & TNE and THANK YOU Professor Carnahan. Sincerely.

Actually there is no regression. African-Americans know it's always there. Never went

Slave or slave owner 150 years ago as a descendent I am neither, I am who I am today. In the 1960’s as a white child my friend was a black girl across the street, I lost friends because I was her friend. Her family was more stable than my white family was. I was punished for eating at her home by my mother who was not home to offer me dinner. Then at 8 years old it did not make sense to me, and today it still doesn’t

I am white. I was raised Christian, I am not longer Christian. I cannot absolve myself to the hypocrisy of Christianity today. I do believe in the teachings of Jesus, which has nothing to do with Christianity today

Your channel is such a blessing. When I was young I would get so confused why we were taught to follow Jesus but no one actually put his words first, and when I questioned it I would be made to feel so bad for asking. Your channel has been so affirming and healing to me, and I appreciate finally finding people who actually follow Jesus

Basically he is defining who is worthy in his philosophy. Poor people are not worthy because if they were worthy they would have money.

When I was a single mother in 1994 Bill Clinton was president. I received help with education, childcare and food stamps to help me become who I am today, an RN for the last 20 plus years I have been a productive member of society thanks to my government, who has paid a lot of taxes, I have paid back what I was given, this is the best of what our government can do to add to our American society.
