SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Показать описание
Please join us on September 20th for a public event focused on Sustainable Development Goal #11 which aims to increase the inclusivity, sustainability, and accessibility of urban and rural areas.
In 2000-2014, urban area growth rates outpaced population rates by 1.28%. The UN’s 11th Sustainable Development Goal seeks to address the world’s growing urban population and related issues such as lack of public transportation and adequate waste disposal systems, access to public spaces, and environmental sustainability of urban infrastructure. SDG #11 provides framework to better integrate urban and rural areas through stronger national and regional development planning and economic ties. Additionally, one target is to increase technical and financial assistance to less developed countries for resilient infrastructure.
This event will look at the efforts to make U.S. communities and cities more sustainable and inclusive, drawing upon successful domestic and international development examples. We will seek to address how are U.S. cities thinking about the SDGs, what investments are necessary to create successful U.S. cities and communities, and other relevant points of reference.
This event is part of an ongoing Chevron Forum series we are doing on the SDGs. So far, we have hosted events focused on the role of the private sector,SDG#7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG#16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG#17: Partnerships for the Goals. Our most recent event was focused on Gender Equality and SDG #5.
