I’ve had the Quest for 5 months. I’m loving it! It’s really close to my old Whites TRX but with display and discrimination. I’m in SoCal and so I don’t know anything about cold weather problems. It’s been flawless for me. The buttons are too low to press easily, so I epoxied some little rubber pads to them, problem solved. Almost impossible to find a Whites TRX and outrageously expensive. The Quest is just like it. That dead zone is the key to it finding your target instead of hitting on the side, you always know it’s right under the tip. Great review.

You don't need to switch it on and off every time as it has a magnetic switch in the sleeve.
The dead zone is there on purpose makes it easier to find the target

Thanks for reviewing this pinpointer. I don’t like the dead zone and I wouldn’t have known without your review. Very complete review btw. Well done Joey!

Hey man, thanks for doing a review on the XPointer Max. Looks likes a very interesting pinpointer. I think some people are going to like it’s features. I have a Nokta Makro PulseDive and had to quit using it. The power button is hard to find by feel with gloves on. So, you have to divert attention from your target area to look at the PulseDive for the button. The button is really hard to push. I hunt for several hours at a time and turning the PulseDive on and off numerous times really aggravates the arthritis in my hands. I switched to a Tek-Point. I have no complaints, so far. The power button is easy to feel with gloves on. I can keep my eyes on the ground and don’t have to look at it to find the button. The button is easy to push. Not having the pain in my hands makes the hunt so much more enjoyable. Just my 2 cents, man. I’m not knocking the XPointer at all. Just something for people with arthritis or other hand issues to think about. (If the power button is really stiff, probably gonna aggravate any hand issues with repeated use)

In my opinion I’m buying one tomorrow that is one of the best pointers on the market it’s a really good durable pointer and that’s what I’m buying tomorrow regardless of the one little spot that is dead it’s good and well that’s what I like about it you can recharge it it’s adorable and it picks up a long ways and it needs to Garrett Garrett and all the other ones by a long shot

I have the pinpointer max. There is one flaw that is common with the Max....If you hunt in temperatures below 24 F, the unit will continually beep, with raise coil and it will not function properly...It happens with mine It does not like the cold for those that hunt up north....Joey, put your Pinpointer Max in the refridgerator or freezer for a short while and see if it happens to yours...Let us know if it does the same thing...All the Best...

Good video thumbs 👍... I would love to have one of those . I hunt around old foundations and will dig 3 or more nails out before I find my target..but I can't afford toys like that ...still cool to see new innovative products... there are places I would just bring that pointer in a day pack

I think it accomplishes what Minelab missed with the ProFind 35. I think it represents a new era in pinpointer design. Very nice!

Quit nitpicking the damn thing does better than any of the other pointers after it’s only got one fall and that’s it next all the other detectors and it blows them out of the water it picks up a lot further away that’s the one I’m buying right there

I like everything about this pinpointer and it is a contender when it comes time for a new VLF one. I do agree with your comment on discrimination once you are in the plug. Depth to me is more important than discrimination at this point. Forest City Metal Detectors, my go-to shop here in Ontario did a review as well. On some of our modern Canadian coins, depending on the angle, it would ring as both ferrous and non-ferrous. I would love to see you take this in the field on your next hunt. Anyway dude, have a good weekend.

OK, so I too was initially impressed with Quest XPointer Max when I got it for Christmas. I had to wait for a thaw here in Michigan before using it in the field. My first day out with it, I was completely disappointed with it. It proved to be terrible in the field. It would false no matter what settings I tried. I luckily had my Garrett pinpointer with me in the car because after 40 minutes use it froze and just beeped incessantly. It had a “raise the coil” warning on the display and no matter however many times I turned it on and off, the display did change. Compared to the Garrett pinpointer, XPointer Max made it much harder to locate the target the targets in the hole. I ended-up returning it and left a negative review at the Serious Detecting webpage detailing its faults… MY ADVICE… DON’T DO IT. It’s fine in the house testing, but in the field, it’s absolutely atrocious in my honest opinion.

I didn`t know they made them like this. I got an "HS-06 Metal Detector" 50 dollar pinpointer free for an honest review and it`s very basic but has depth very similar to a Garrett. I tried a trick I saw and slid a spoon handle up the back just until beeping started, then slid it back just until beeping stopped, and I was able to get four inches on a nickel in an air test. The only features are "beep, beep/vibration, vibration only, and LED light." Waterproof to 50 ft.

Ironically I'm only interested in this pointer because of the dead zone, lol. Sounds great, like a TRX.
