Hey Kyle, I'm a loyal RevZilla customer but I feel morally obligated to purchase a set of of Adventure tires from you. Your research is invaluable to us. Call you in the spring LOL

I just finished the Alaska/Deadhorse trip this year. I saw all these tires on route. Several people had the Motaz, and by the time they got to the dirt and mud of the haul road none of them were good enough. Personally i changed out an 80/20 Anakee Adventure in Fairbanks for a TKC 80 for the dirt and mud, did beautifully, and had enough tread left to get myself back to the lower 48. Mine was an 8000 mile trip, 2 set of tires, no regrets. If you don’t have the right tires you can still make it, but you may have to wait 3-4 days for the conditions to be right to finish the ride, saw some Harley’s on road tires do that too. Damn that chandelier shelf.

Hey Kyle, great round up of the 50/50 tires. I think a lot of folks considering a 50/50 tire for their big adventure bikes want to consider road noise as one of their criteria. I've ridden the Karroo 3, the Trail Max Mission, the Motoz Adventure front and rear, and the Motoz Adventure Rear/Dual Venture front. All on a R1200GS. My Trailmax was the quietest, when it was fresh it did pretty well on dirt and gravel but sucked in the mud. It did really well on loose and jagged rocks. It felt great on the road and after 7000 miles I took it off and yet it still has tread left for next summer road trips. I also rode my friends r1200gs with Karoo 3's, it hooked up better in the dirt than the TrailMax but was noisy as hell and also vibrates. before the Trailmaxs I had the Motoz Tractionator Adventure on the front and rear and they hooked up as well as the Karoo 3's but the front was noisy and cupped quickly and vibrated at low speed on the road. Now I have a fresh Adventure Rear and the Dual Venture front and it hooks up great in dirt and gravel, feels very smooth on the road, and it's almost as quiet as the Trailmax. I think for the kind of riding I do (50/50) the Motoz Adventure Rear with Dual Venture Front is a great combo. If I'm going to do a multi state road trip with some gravel roads I put the Trailmax back on.

Having tried almost every adventure tyre on the market from a Dunlop 606 to a Bridgestone Battleaxe, I can honestly say the Motoz tyres are the best I have ever used. The Tractionator Adventure gives exceptional grip in all conditions, including wet pavement, sand, gravel and mud with and exceptionally long life of 8000km-plus. I am yet to find better and with be sticking with these Aussie beauties for the foreseeable future.

I really appreciate all the years and miles and information you have accumulated here. I've never seen such a complete comparison. Thanks.

Excellent summary, thanks Kyle. One thing you should add as a point of difference between the Motoz Adventure and RallZ: the RallZ (and the GPS) has extra silica and is designed for improved wet performance. The Adventure is ok for DRY mileage, but if you ride in the wet, either on-road or off, consider the RallZ.

I came here as recommended by Big Rock Moto, and was not disappointed! Awesome info here, Kyle!

I'm going to be purchasing a 2025 Africa Twin, in the next few months. The OE tires, as I understand it, are street tires. I plan on using them for the 600 mile break-in period of the engine, only, then switch to a solid 50/50 or 30/70.

My focus is going to be off-road, my problem is how much on-road I have to travel to get to the off-road.

I've never changed a tire on my bikes before, and from the little savings I've seen contrasted by my love of high(er) mileage tires, the savings seem to be negligible.

It's a decent task to try and nail down what kind of tires you want/need. I live in the city, with the trails I'd like to ride, anywhere from 5 miles away to 15 miles away, or greater. Under 4, 000 miles of wear for a tire is a deal-breaker for me.

I plan on riding fire-roads to begin with, but if I hit sketchy terrain, whether mud, snow, sand, steepish hill, or what have you, I'd like to know I'll be able to get out of the situation.

I've been doing some research on YT, and I thought I had come to the conclusion of going with the Dunlap Trailmax, which seem to have excellent mileage! Tgen I started looking at the Dunlap Mission (for better off-road).

Now that I've seen your video, the Motoss tire you mentioned sounds like a great choice, but again it seems like it's significantly less mileage wear than the Trailmax.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best tire reviews on the internet. Hands down. Since getting into Adventure bike riding the last couple of years, I have watched your reviews several times, and referred them more times then I could count! Keep up the great content!

Nice, best review of tires? You didn't go negative at all on any of them, you have the talent to find positive sides out of everything :)

I rode to the Arctic 3 times and I’m going again this year (depending on Covid restrictions). For this trip I’ll use the MotoZ Adventure rear and Rally front. This is 6, 000 miles round trip for me.

Once again very informative you're the reason I went with the tires I have now

Great review. So few people take into account how much tire weight impacts on acceleration, cornering, braking and gas mileage.

My Guzzi came with Anakee Adventure equipped and they’ve been great. I’d like to have a bit more confidence up front on those sand roads, so I think you sold me on the Anakee Wild. I put down a lot of miles so I don’t want to give too much of that up. Thanks for the reviews.

Another important thing to consider is puncture resistance. A softer tire with big gaps between knobs can increase the chance for puncture. Also the stiff sidewall has advantages when hitting rocks and protecting the rims. In that regard it seems the motoz and trailmax have a real edge in both these things. And maybe the trailmax because of the narrow grooves between tread blocks and having the stiffest sidewall.

What an excellent review! Really clear with great description - really helped me in my search for new tires. I also appreciated the insert of the tire data. Thanks!

I have run 2 sets of Anakee Wilds (approx. 5k miles/set) on my T7 and totally agree with your assessment of that tire. Great traction, decent tread life, and good price for what you get. I'm going with Motoz Adventures for my TAT ride next summer and it sounds like that'll be a good choice as well.

Thank you for a great review and keep them coming!

G'day Kyle, Great comparison! I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be very interested in a similar comparison for tubed tyres for lighter adventure bikes like the Tenere 700 and limited to those that have sidewalls that are soft enough to enable trackside puncture repair with a decent set of tyre levers. Cheers, Luke

Probably the best video on motorcycle tyres
