Have you ever bought or currently buy backlinks? If so, what was/is your experience with doing so?

Google doesn’t know if someone likes your website. They don’t know the bounce rate, retention, session time or direct access. The only way google can understand if people like your website is brand search, which is hard to get if you have no traffic. So, I’m pretty sure they rely on links in 99% of the cases.

But the competition is going at a very fast and tough pace, that even if we have great and amazing content for users, but if competitor's are using black techniques then users won't be able to reach our webpage even.. so shall we buy some backlinks to some extent so that our amazing content at least start appearing to users?
