Bharat Forge, Siemens, L&T among 23 firms express interest on running private trains in India

The plan by Indian Railways to operate private trains on its tracks created strong interest from a number of private companies. This is the first private investment project into the Indian Railway Network for operating passenger trains. The project would entail private sector investment of about Rs 30,000 crore.
16 companies had participated in the first meeting as India began opening up its rail system to private businesses to operate passenger trains. Bombardier, Alstom, Siemens, GMR Infra, Bharat Forge, BEML, L&T Infra participated in the meeting for running private train.
IRCTC, BHEL, CAF, Medha Group, Sterlite, JKB infrastructure and Titagarh Wagons Limited have also shown interest in running private trains in india.
