There are also 2 major reasons for Japan not attacking USSR
German invasion of Poland
German support to China

There were two factions Japan, over whether to go after the norther resource area or southern one, they decided southern, the northern area was Siberia. The disastrous battle of Khalkhin Gol when Japan lost to Soviet troops played a large part in the decision.

Also a unspoken reason is that, Hirohito and Hideki Tojo both had close ties with the Poles, and the Japanese - Polish alliance still unofficially existed, as Japan provided help to many Poles fleeing the occupied Poland. The Japanese government unofficially stated that they will NOT provide Germany with any help in both Europe, and Asia. Thus, this was another of few reasons why they refused to invade the USSR

Its also mainly due to the there being 2 main factions in the government that de-facto controlled the nation, the army and the ultimetely from the power struggle the army won and they were supporters of the "Strike South doctrine" which as it said was to take over allied Asia quickly while the American fleet was neutralized and before the British which actually suceeded to an extent.... they underestimated the Americans since theyr fleet was repaired only after half a year. Now the navy was supporter of the "Strike North doctrine" which was to invade USSR and free people from the gulags, use them and push all the way to the Urals while also neutralizing the Soviet industry which was relocated there after Germany commenced Operation Barbarrosa.

I really dont like the fact that most people who tell ww2 stuff don't research enough and don't talk about the fact that many other small countries also took part

"Did not want to fight a super power" but continued to fight a GLOBAL power which would be very hard to inavde because the biggest ocean is dividing them. Hirohito was just selfish and he could break the pact. It was thr biggest war and because they would have definitely won no one would say anything

The Japanese DID invade Russia 😂😂 ITS CALLED THE BORDER WARS and it happened in 1929-1930, Japan DID steal oil and other things from Russia which made the Russians ABSOLUTELY MAD about it but due to Germany invading them and in fighting in their own government they couldn’t do anything about it until the war was almost over

There was also the point that the Japanese knew they’d eventually lose and knew it’d be better to lose to the us than to the ussr.
