I almost cried because I relate. My crush has been my best friend and she IS my anchor. She always has been there, and she listens and doesn't try to explain why someone did something to me, because she knows that makes me feel like it's just me.

it has 2 different meanings to it.
some say it talks about how god guides us even in our darkest times in life.
others say it is a beautiful song that tells the person most important to you how they helped them through everything and still do and how much love people can have for one another.
my mom passed away in april of this year, she was my anchor, she wanted me to believe that god was always on our side and always there for us, she even pulled me out of a very dark place i was in during the course of my adult life. when she died, i became lost and then, i heard this song and i remembered how she used to tell me about god. she is with my real dad now. but, for all these years, my step dad has been pretty much my dad and still is and because of him, all my siblings, my family members and all my friends. i have been reconnecting with god more and being less depressed about life without my mom.
and now, i try to spread that positivity and happiness to everyone else. life isn't over after the person we love is gone. they would not want us in misery, they would want us to keep holding our heads up high, dusting ourselves off and keep moving forward to that better tomorrow. we must all embrace god's love and wisdom in order to destroy the hatred and anger that the darkness thrives on it all in this world of ours.
if you have someone you love and they are important to you, make it known, don't hold back cause that is what causes a lot of people to live with regrets. love them, embrace them and continue to support each other through all of it.
