Pat,
Tony Salvadore here, .hopefully the name rings a bell. If not let me take you back some 53 years to WPTR. You had just joined Whipter as the new 7-12 guy and I there shortly before heading for WSLR in Akron. Before leaving you and I struck up a couple of friendly conversations as I wished you well in your new gig. Fade out, fade in, it's sometime in 1972/73 and I became hooked on CKLW from Windsor/Detroit. Onen day, lo and behold there you are hustling the hits (Duke Roberts) on the Big 8! I called, you remembered me and I drove up to Windsor to sit behind the glass as you did your show. It was great to see you and I was thrilled for your success. While there I called a fried of mine, who was GM of WDEE, and literally 3 weeks later I was working in Detroit!
Several years later I went to San Francisco and ended my career in 2009 as Sr/VP Market Manager for the Cumulus (ugh) group of KNBR/KFOG/KTCT etc.
Ran into your pitch on behalf of Rosalie Trombley to be inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame. Totally with you there my friend, she was a legend in the CHR/music business!
Anyway good to 'catch up' with you. Best of luck with this new venture.
PS...too bad Bill Drake passed so early, sure he would have been one of your first guests.
