Al Mar Knives was founded in 1979 by ex-Gerber chief designer Al Mar, who sadly passed away in 1992. This is a quick video on the short lived multitool of his design. Made in Seki, Japan.

I just found one of these for cheap. Really well made and beautiful! Great video!

He is beautiful! I also collect multi-tools and vintage folding knives, I have more than 150 items, but Al Mare is not among them yet... :( But it will definitely be! :)

People are brainwashed by name recognition. The blade itself may be of high quality but every other aspect of that tool is low quality junk. Crap rivets are used and the rivets aren't even centered or even, plus they protrude. A rivet pin for a pivot? It is obvious the handle scales dont even line up evenly or symettrically. I could go on and on. Its overpriced crap because of a known blade maker and now its considered collectable, I guess. Just like the spyderco wrench pliers, which are complete poor quality junk, but at least the spyderco had a cool design.
