How The DJI Mavic 3 Has Evolved - All The New Features Since Launch

In my humble opinion, the DJI Mavic 3 is the absolute best consumer drone on the market and probably will be for a long time, however, it didn't quite start that way. On launch day, the Mavic 3 did not have many of the advanced or intelligent features that we have come to expect from DJI and the Mavic 3 had its share of bugs such as overactive obstacle avoidance, a twitchy camera in some scenarios, slow GPS lock, and hovering issues among some other minor annoyances. DJI got to work and started fine-tuning this incredible drone fixing problems and adding many features and enhancements. The Mavic 3 we have today is quite different from what we had on launch day. In this video, we go over all the new firmware features and enhancements that have been added.

The firmware updates for this drone have really transformed it into a much better drone. Well beyond the features that were promised when it was released. Great recap of when all the new features arrived. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

Mavic 3 updates/features could be characterized by 1) features promised before release that were supposed to be included already 2) bonus features added after launch feature set was satisfied, and 3) features still not added, that previously existed in the Mavic 2 and Mavic 1.

It’s really great that we have Waypoints after waiting so long. And still, I wish we had a 1:1 crop or HD mode like the Mavic 2 has.
Funnily enough, I also miss the Fixed Wing mode the Mavic 1 had.

I have not upgraded to the firmware that implemented NIGHT MODE because it also had REMOTE ID. As a Canadian do you have any reservations with respect to privacy concerns regarding the possible implementation of REMOTE ID in Canada?

The mavic 3 is such a fantastic drone and your correct once that first big firmware update was released it was like buying a different improved drone instantly and I’m finding it hard to get my Air2s or evo lite out especially after adding the rc pro …it’s almost no comparison.. great video thanks!!!

Thanks for this excellent summary of Mavic 3 updates. I have found that my Mavic 3 Classic is not capable of doing precision landings, and several other MavicPilots members have had the same problem (though some have not), both Classic and full versions. I spent some time on DJI's online chat line, and was told that my aircraft is not defective, and that a forthcoming firmware update would address this. I have followed all the instructions diligently, and have not had one precision landing yet -- they vary from about 1m to 6 or 7m off the landing spot. Why some pilots are getting precision landings is a mystery. I just wanted you and your audience to be aware of this problem and hoped-for solution.

One thing: when I use the Mavic3 as a handheld gimbal, it is not so good as the Mavic2.

Do you think we’ll ever see DJI make a drone or just a improvement where the zoom doesn’t pause while switching to the telephoto lens?

(In other words a smoother transition between the normal and tele lens when slowly zooming)

Can someone confirm to me if the current distance from a detected object is approx 1.2 meters, before braking or bypassing by the Mavic 3 kicks in? I thought that at launch this was several meters. 1.2 meters is a bit too close for my comfort in some situations. I'm assuming this is to prevent the aggressive response of the original reaction distance.

I have wanted a DJI drone but I live in the DC area. Friends of mine who live on the edge of but outside of the SFRA get geofenced out. It is a real pain so I went with Autel.
