How can someone even debate it?
Russia IS EUROPEAN country that expanded to asia.
Russia is European by traditions, religion and other things.
Russia is eurasian country. Not including it in Europe is a big mistake, and not including Russia in Asia is also a mistake.
Russia literally was the strongest country in Europe in 18th and 20th centuries and one of the strongest in other centuries.

South America is mostly Catholic and has a big Mediterranean European Spanish/Portuguese heritage, then they are European too by this logic. Bosnia, Albania, and the Russian Tatarstan, Dagestan have mostly European Muslim population. They are the European ones, NOT South Americans!!!

When foreigners talk about Russia, they mean Slavic Russians; depending on the region, Russia is home to many peoples whose culture and language are different from Slavic.

Yes Majority of Russians are European. However, the rest of the Russian population are Asians mostly. Simple, the Ural Mountains splits the country into 2, where 2/3 of Russian land is in Asia but with fewer people, whilst 1/3 of Russia is in Europe where Most of the Population Lives. Basically The Siberian Russians are Asians, otherwise known as the Northern Asians. Hence why their facial features are similar to the Asians living in Central and East Asia.

Edit: After doing more research, there's actually more European decent living in Siberia than Asians themselves. Only a small portion of the country's population is Asian. Then again Siberia is geographically Asian but majority of its people aren't.

In Conlusion the answer is both, hence why its known as a Transcontinetal continent. However, Russia is placed in the European continent following the United Nations classification. While much of its territory lies in Asia, most of its people reside in Europe with most culture linking to its neighbouring Easter European Countries.

Why Russia is not Asian?
Answer: Because of it's land which is called Siberia where autochthonous people are lived in their ethnic groups. And also Russian became colonizer as a European conquest to become Tsardom Russia and Russian Empire to expand and conquer their land to became part their territory led by Tsar like Peter the great and they need their resources to became wealthy country for economic, people, scarcity, and others to be part status in globalization.
