U should break it down to small vacuum sealed bags and take one out every week. Keeps them fresh and no issues with moisture or odors.

coffee beans is freezer is ACTUALLY a GOOD idea as long as you don't have it loosely in a bag that you are holding. Ziplock and remove the air or vacuum and they will last years. Vacuum seal with an oxygen remover and you have something 10+ years easily

Bobby, i buy 5lbs bags of freshly roasted beans. I let them de-gas for two weeks then batch them t sealed 12oz each then to the freezer. That way you can thaw one bag at a time and stay them out of the freezer and in to an air tight container. This is the only way you can save money by bulk beans and keep them fresh. Otherwise, you need to buy individual 12oz bags.

I had coffee beans from Philippines in freezer for 8 years. Coffee was great. Guess it was just great coffee. Couldn't kill it if you tried....

I dont buy coffee beans often but I keep my ground coffee in the refrigerator. Its a must for me. If you keep ground coffee in the pantry once you open the can or bag it will go stale within a few days. You will have musty smelling and tasting coffee. Always refrigerate after opening. Onion in the freezer?? Sorry Bobby, I only use fresh onions.

you should freeze your coffee beans for best flavor
just don't refreeze them

portion them out for about 1-2 weeks and then freeze them

you can see James Hoffman doing tests on this. they keep their flavor when frozen but not when refrozen

We used to do that, but I think Bobby's right: Far from extending the life of our coffee beans, it seemed to deplete them faster.

We've become conditioned to think of storage "The colder, the better." But reality is, it depends on what you're storing.

I keep mine in a canning jar in my cabinet. I grind daily. Yum

Makes good sense. Thank you! Good to know.
I don't drink coffee but I'll bet this applies to other foods as well.

The option of freezing in 8oz portions and pulling all out and putting in a canister with one way valve was not suggested.

Store the coffee needed for the pot in smaller containers. I don't messaging with it ... get it out and shut the door. Even if they weren't prepped, I doubt the container of coffee would have time to thaw in the time they are out!
