T-REX 700L Dominator TOP Super Combo review- BUYER BEWARE!

This is my first youtube video as you can probably tell, sorry about the unprofessionalism and mistakes I made along with my long pauses and umms. I feel like I may have come off as inexperienced due to my mistakes and stuttering over my words, but I want to point out that I have owned more RC helicopters than I count, everything from 450's to 500's, one 550 and also micros like the 150dfc and the new Blade 180cfx, been flying now for 8 years, so I am very experienced. I am just really sad and frustrated about the way this all turned out and feel very ripped off by Align.

If you have a Top that works great, good for you, please don't get mad at me or be insulted. I am just warning people about the experiences I had, and I am not the first or last! If you want to get one, I would think twice, or get the kit without any electronics.

Don't be the next person to get killed by one of these, and I think Align should do more to make sure that does not happen. The more dangerous they are, and the more incidents like the one last year that happened tragically with a 700 in Florida, will mean more bogus regulation and stupid laws by our lovely government. So lets try and avoid all that and hope Align will fix the problems!

HI, I have been flying for about 6 month, at the moment I fly a blade 450x so I was looking to get something bigger.
The heli's I was looking at where align but after hearing you and everyone else's issues I can assure you I will not buy align.
Customer services is a big deal to me, after hearing how you where treated (I know there are 2 side to every story but you seemed very genuine), I will take my potential life long custom to someone that gives great customer service.

I've been flying for about 15 years. I always use JR servos. Never had a problem to date.

Sorry for your unfortunate experience. I have a 450l with the GPro and everything works perfectly. I've even asked Alan Szabo jr (Align team pilot) about the Grpo and he says that it's a lot better than the updated 3gx. He uses it in his 700size stock helis as well with no problem. Hopefully Align will continue to update their products. All new Gyros will have some initial bugs and defects.

Hi, welcome to the failed servo club from Align. I bought my T-Rex 700l Top combo 2 weeks agoo. After installing and testing the servos, one of the cyclic servos falied. This happened during the alignment of the pitch angle. Right after this fail happend even the tail- servo showed some strange problems with the servo- ways and began to stutter. After talking with our Align distributor hotline in Germany I sent the two defect servos in for investigation and repair. To be continued.... Greetings from Germany Olli

I saw your post on Helifreak about this issue.

I built a Logo 800 XX using the Align servos, the tail servo was dead out of the box which was replaced.

Five flights in the elevator servo failed and the heli tipped back very quickly but I was able to save it, again it was replaced under warranty.

Four days ago I was coming into land when the heli tipped to the right and went in hard, cost me nearly £200 to repair, still don't know what caused it as all servos are working but I'm concerned that another servo is failing.

I should mention that I'm using the Vbar with the Vbar control radio.

I also own a 800 Pro (early version) and 800 Trekker with the stock servos and after over a thousand flights on each they are still going fine.

Seems to me the latest servos from Align have issues.

I know the feeling all to well.I'm going thru the same crap.I use to fly miniature aircraft fury extremes, Wicked well built compared to Align stuff.You couldn't kill them.Anyhow I have two Aligns and the Gpro totally blows!!!.
I have had more Align servos fail and have more than 9 lives like a cat cuz I always got on the ground safely.I changed out the Shit pros and went with Spektrum AR 7200bx and AR 7300bx and never had a servo problem again.Don't know what it is and don't care what it is with the shit pro.now I can fly and don't haft to Dick around with that bs anymore.

I bought a trex 550L dominator, with BL815H cyclic servos, and BL855H tail servo... the same thing happend to my elevator servo! Was working great for 2days, on the bench that is. When i was going out to fly, it did not work... just like yours, i had to touch it, before it moved. I replaced it for my own money. About 2 weeks after this, my tail servo just stopped! Shit servos! Im so lucky its amasing! All this happend on the ground, and i noticed it during my pre-flight checks.

The esc is also to smal for this heli.. no doubt about it (talon 90, on trex 550L dominator. .. works, but dont work great)

Im selling the 550L dominator now, to get a 570 SAB Goblin..

Ps: did they find the reason for ser o failures ?

Turns out it was probably the gyro the entire time breaking the servos, I think it was possibly outputting an incorrect voltage or something...who knows, but that was the only constant, everything else had been replaced or repaired. After the new Gpro came in, the unit worked well, but the left cyclic (one of the 4 brand new ones) worked for about 45 seconds and then started chattering loudly and moving on its own, twitching and eventually got so hot that it was smoking, I contacted Align and made good on my promise about sending the helicopter back.

In the end Align made up for their mistakes by refunding my money and did it without argument. They were extremely nice and apologetic, and in the end, I was very happy how it all turned out. Align makes a hell of a helicopter, but these new servos and Gpros need some serious revisions and hopefully Align will do those before someone gets hurt or killed. I still say unfortunately have say, 'Buyer Beware' because in the end, it still did not work properly. There will be no lawsuit, no report to the CPSC, and I have to thank God for that, because I would have spent just as much money getting my money back as I did on the bird it's self, probably more. I ended up getting a the new Goblin 630 Carbon edition and went with BK8001/Bk8005 servos and guess what... It all works, all the electronics function out of the box. I went with an Ikon and I have to say it is better than the Gpro could ever dream to be. Even though it was a little more pricy, it goes to show, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

i bought 3 new align servos ds416m's and 2 failed in about 30m flights or less. align hasn't even responded to my email on replacement. I Thought they made their own servos on site.Why would you have to wait for shipments of them to arrive?v bar is the way to go and I'm personally loving this set of kst servos for my dominator clone. they are burly like a clone of mks servos which also look good. plus I have always heard gpros suck I had a similar experience with this microbeast clone gyro due to shoddy soldering. thanks for the vid

Man I've heard about that gpro. The flying field I go to said they won't even program it. Beastx, Vortex, Ikon are the way to go

I also own this  Combo and had Trouble with the tailservo. After all Settings were made in the Gpro and i wanted to do the maiden and the servo had no function anymore. Also i had to resett the gpro in order to use another servo at the tailport. 
After they replaced the servo and checked the gpro(no Problem was found) i had a bad feeling about the grpo and replaced it by a AR7200BX cause i also use the DX9. There are some Infos on the Internet that there are Problems with the gpro and Spektrum so decided to dont use it anymore.
Since that i didn´t fly cause the bad winter weather...lets see what the summer brings....

Ok say a question or two for you then? You mentioned in the description that if you got the kit to get it without any electronics. Would the heli be as good or better then say thundertiger or goblin? Was it just the electronics or the entire heli as a whole? And how was the motor?

This is funny I went the oposite I hated my goblins (570, 770)and went back to Align. For half the price I also couldn't get over how cheaply the goblins were made. Very poor QC.

But for future always toss the gpro and get a real gyro before you even start the build. Vbar all the way I bet if you did you wouldn't have had any of the issues you did.
