Step-siblings are not blood related, their parents got together after having the kids. Thus, each step-sibling has one parent they are blood related to, and the other is their step-parent. They may end up sharing half-siblings, if their now married parents have kids.
Adopted siblings have no blood relation to anyone in the family that adopted them.
