Rediscover Your Vinyl with The 50 Album Challenge

Sometimes, I buy albums faster than I can listen to them. To solve that problem, I’m going to take The 50 Album Challenge — choosing 50 albums from my collection that I haven’t heard in a while, at all, or on vinyl. A follow-up video on my listening experience with these is likely forthcoming. Rock on!

Confession time: I failed the 50 album challenge. I never got through it... kept getting sidetracked by other albums. I will have to do a follow up. There are some cool albums in this pile. I also need to revisit some of these, including From the Inside, and Intermission. I revisited Ram it Down last year. I bought it as a kid the week it was released. I was disappointed then, and I'm still disappointed to this day, lol. Good luck man!!!

Fun fact about that tank album, the canadian version is the only one with that color scheme, everywhere else used purple and yellow

Free For All is Ted Nugent's heaviest, most consistent album, imo. Also that Chastain record is amazing - the drums sound incredible.

“Vice Versa” is the movie Malice was in.

Cracking show, chief. That David Lee Roth EP was a fave of mine when it dropped. Hope you enjoy it, too. As for MSG I can heartily recommend their 2 live albums. The bass solos on both versions of "Into The Arena" never fail to blow me away. Also - and I know you've a lot to listen to already - I'd drop The Macc Lads in as a suggestion. Drunken Rockin Punk from the North of England. Just read the lyrics as you listen, as the accent is a tad obfuscating.

Okay, saw the Giuffria record and had to comment! I had that in the 80s when it first came out and had to buy it again when I started collecting vinyl again last year. Listening to this after I hadn't heard it for 30 + years, I have to say it was total cheeseball. Gotta love (not really) those shirtless band member photos on the back cover. But I am a sucker for my 80s nostalgia, and I am glad I picked it up. Thanks for showing it, probably the only time we will see that record on YT in the vinyl community.

I remember when Frank first made the video about this. I got to thinking if I could really do it. Since I have only been back into buying vinyl for about 2 and a half years, most everything is fairly new and listened to fairly recently. I would have to change it up and say, 50 records I haven't listened to in the past year. :) So many of the ones you are pulling out are faves of mine that I have listened to recently, and so many of the others are on my vinyl want list still. Such great stuff. Funny you pull out Slide It In, I just good the reissue and it will be in my upcoming video. Love the band and the album!

Kreator is amazing & that album is fantastic. What do you think of Tim "Ripper" Owens fronting Judas Priest on their Jugulator album? Thought it was great. Also, if you haven't heard of Nevermore, definitely check them out. Sad to hear about the singer.

I also did this challenge earlier this year. It's a bit of a slog to be honest especially towards the end. I reconnected with some great records though and also realised why I hadn't listened to some for so long! Good luck.
