Did you know that there are more than 50 museum schools that partner with museums to provide hands-on, real world learning to K-12 students nationwide? In this talk, you will learn more about these schools, their successful outcomes, and the association dedicated to supporting this high quality, innovative approach to learning.

The National Association of Museum Schools is led by our speaker, Executive Director Katherine Kelbaugh. Dr Kelbaugh also serves as the Executive Director and founding principal of The Museum School of Avondale Estates. She holds a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology. Dr Kelbaugh earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia. Her dissertation explored principals’ perspectives of their preparation and experiences related to school climate. Dr Kelbaugh began her career teaching 1st grade and kindergarten in Georgia before teaching 3rd grade in Florida. There, she served as the Lead Teacher, Mentor Teacher and Reading Specialist for two years before taking on the role of Assistant Principal, later transitioning to the Founding Principal of The Museum School of Avondale Estates.
