Thank you for helping me present the lesson. Where may I get the Exodus book you have published? Where did you go to college for your business and Bible degree? Greetings from Texas.

Thank you for explaining this.

I just started reading the Bible and it mentions making alters a lot since Genesis until Exodus (where I’m currently reading). When I think of alters, I had been taught that it’s usually associated with witchcraft or serving other Gods. Why is it that Christians do not make alters in modern times? Is this something we should be doing as Christians? Any insight will help.

I believe the 10 commandments are different from all other laws as they are the only laws written with the hand of God. They are eternal and Christ found their violation worth dying for in our place.

Sin is a violation of what? The law, ten commandments, the moral law. The commandments aren't onerous, but as Paul said they are as a mirror reflecting our shortcomings. We would not know sin, except by God's mirror. He could have changed it but His law, the only thing written with his own finger, but it is good, immutable, eternal. If there was not a law, Adam and Eve could not have committed the abomination called sin. Christ said, "think not that I have come to change the law, but to fulfill it." His sacrifice fulfilled the sacrificial laws and took them away but He also kept the moral law in our stead. In other words, He died for our what? SINS-or violation of the 10 commandments. In the ark of the covenant was manna, Aaron's rod, and the ten commandments given to Moses. No other law is contained therein. We can't take away stop sign violations by taking away the stop sign. There are consequences for blowing a stop sign whether it is there or not. So too, Christ took our faults on to gift us a path to righteousness or a renewed harmony with God and His law. God gifts us eternal life through His Son, who died for our sins. God is so good!!
