So it appears it ONLY needs to be in a poluted zone the water pumps can harvest on land and its more effective for Acid. So any corrupt zone with stardust.

You don't have to put the pumps in water. In fact you shouldn't. If you put the pump in water you get dirty and polluted water. If you put the pump on the ground outside the water it only gives polluted water.

the best acid farm by far is the mushroom girl in settlements. She sells them unlimited for 2 of that material you get from the cargo scramble & highway persuit events. Sometimes i can get close to 1000 per event. You get 100 acid for 200 so you can usually come out with about 400 acid. but the event seems to be very random.

You don't need water to pump up polluted water. Just put it in the ground

something worth a test I've seen other place pumps on the darker areas of the map even without water in that area and it still pumps water and impure acid so im assuming theirs a ground water table as such ? and thus as long as you are registering pollution on back pack and in a dark area of the map it should work, cant be that one small area considering the amount of players that will need this process so must be more spots to do so

it looks like that can work with raincather too. I was wondering today why my plants had not enough water so I checked the small waterfilter and I found some of this pre-step acid inside.
now this blocked the one and only slot for water, so my sprinkler cant work anymore. Now I changed to Osmosis because it have 4 slots.

Today i show you how to make a passive acid farm so make sure you do this early you won't regret it! Also i think there is a lot of other corruption zone types but they may be gated right now let me know below.

for acid you need to go deeper in to poluted zone, and away from any water resource(lake, river, sea), so your pump only get polluted water. not dirty water or sea water. for optimal 100% efficiency u need 10 pump for the polluted water, 1 osmosis purifier for impure acid, and 2 barrel for the actual acid. and 1 pump, 1 osmosis purifier for pure water. so you want to put your base deep enough for your 10 pump to get only polluted water, and not so deep that you can still get dirty water or sea water. the output is over 500 acid daily (576 to be exact). this setup require 150w electricity. if u strugle with power cut the pump to 5 and leave 1 barrel to decrease it to 90w. u still get half the output
