Larry is like that big guy at the gym who skips cardio.
Marius is like that big guy in the gym who after a weight session is running on the treadmill with a weighted vest on

There's a reason Mariusz is a 5 time world champ, there were plenty of outright stronger competitors back in the day, but Mariusz has speed and insane burst strength, This is why he holds the records!

Mariusz is the only strong man that looks like a bodybuilder.

Would have been nice to see some movement events compared from when Larry tried strongman. Like farmers walk or yoke. Larry is a static monster but wildly unathletic and cannot move well with very low stamina. Marius was never a big static lifter but had crazy speed, explosiveness, athleticism, and endurance which is why he dominated strongman. Only comparing them in static lifting is not a very fair comparison.

Who is better at powerlifting, the powerlifter or the strongman? Hmm I wonder...

Didn't Larry compete in some local strongman and didn't even win that? Mariusz was the best of the best five times, Larry would literally not even qualify to compete with him.

Yes, Larry wins in these static evens but in a world strongman comp, my money would always go on Mariusz.

what u want to compare ? dude is 5 x world's strongest man...Larry is not...the end

Even though he is not statistically strong as Larry, Mariusz (the dominator) used his available static strength and combined it with a never giving up attitude, unbelievable explosive strength, endurance and stamina to win those 5 WSM titles. Larry on the other hand is a freak of nature himself. A great video as usual Strength Universe!

This benchpress is years after he stopped competing

If Pudz focused on pure strength and not WSM titles, I have no doubt he would have produced bigger numbers

Where is the comparison about beating a Mafia Boss.
Mariusz:- 1
Larry:- 0

Larry Wheels is truly very strong, but your point is made, if Mariusz was in this era that would be trouble. Great video

Mariusz was and is always great at mobility (based from his martial arts background) which is why he is always the best at many moving strength event and reps event (which fortunately happened to often in WSM events back in the day). He may never win Arnold Strongman Classic to comapre with static monster like Zydrunas due to Arnold's focus more to the static challange, but damn good he is as the overall strongman athlete especially with his bodybuilder shape (now and then)

nie ma co porownywac czasow tych z tamtymi .. inne odzywki i sterydy byly, technologia itd .. Mariusz i tak jest najlepszy :)

Why doesn’t Larry ever compete in the strongman competition? Too many events for him? Not enough stamina? You would think he would want to have that distinction of winning it…if he could…

I think it would be really interesting to see what Mariusz would have been capable of if he had trained for Powerlifting. His claimed lifts really weren't far off of Larry's best lifts, and provided he was telling the truth he might have been neck and neck or even capable of surpassing Larry.

Larry is a freak but Mariusz is one of the strength GOATs of the era. The static big three lifts were never a focus for Pudz and to be honest, why would they be considering strongman requires power and speed. That worked well for him as he was one of the most powerful lifters in regards to explosiveness. Just an overall excellent athlete.

Not taking anything away but Larry trained a bit for strongman but then stopped as he was already developing injuries. Too bad, would have been great to see him compete with Licis, Novikov, Stoltmans and the like.

Comparing a powerlifter and a strongman in my mind, you'd need to compare static lifts and strongman events for both to get any fair comparison

Strongman competition lifts are not same as competitions focused on one or 3 different lifts or even gym lifts.
Strongmen have many competitions each year and all of them are different with different events and they have to prepare for them. While in specific lifts like deadlift, squat, bench you're preparing for same events all year.
I don't want to take anything from Larry in this video, he is a really strong guy but this comparison is suited perfectly for Larry.
Good video
