It’s the unnecessary pettiness for me. I don’t understand why they’re like “I’m gonna mark you absent because you left school for an ortho appointment” when the teacher already excused the student. They act like school is the most important thing in the entire universe. I’m just like “I’m still coming back tomorrow. I know I’ll need to make up work. You don’t have to make a big deal about it”

The attendance secretary got like this with my mom once…when she said, “you ARE aware Mrs Clark, that this will affect her attendance record, right?” My mom, who’d been up all night with my sick baby sister, said, “oh no! However will she survive the rest of her life with an early departure on her middle school attendance record?!! Her life is OVER! Whatever will we do?!!” Very loudly and very dramatically. Then she calmed down and said, “have a nice day.” And led me, (laughing my ass off, btw) out the door. The principal had heard the commotion and come out of his office. He saw my mom, turned around, and went back in. Yeah, she was infamous for not tolerating the school’s superiority complex. ☺️

My school was like this, I was having an allergic skin reaction and got sent by the school nurse to wait for my mum who got me an emergency appointment and she gave me such crap for accidently using my mums face wash instead of mine.
My doctors isn't even open at the weekend, so ny asthma nurse had me out of school every 2 months. My mum got sick of her judgement and wrote to our head teacher asking if they would prefer I die.

I had a band teacher get upset that I was missing his class for a doctor's appointment. He asked me why I planned it just before his concert and I was going to be missing really important stuff. I told him that my appointment was scheduled six months in advance at a specialized hospital 7 hours away and that my seizures were more important than band practice. He was pissed

I find it funny they get so upset about having that as their seemingly only job

It’s almost like they conveniently forget that children are in school from around 8/9am until 3/4pm, (been a while! I’m 27 now) and that British doctors appointments and dentist appointments at the moment are like damn gold dust. You’re not gonna get one after school before the dentists/doctors shut at 6pm.

My sons only 14m old but I’m already waiting for the day that his school questions me about his appointments, or his mental health days that I fully intend to allow him to take as long as he understands the rules 💀

"Whats the appointment for?" None of you damn business ma'am.
My mum would always phone in the morning g to inform the school that I would be leaving at a certain point if I ever had an appointment, so all I had to do was go to the reception and get checked out.
One time I got asked what my appointment was for and I didn't mind saying it was a doctors appointment but then she asked why I needed to go to the doctor and that made me super uncomfortable because it was about my periods so I told her I didn't really want to talk about it (especially to someone I didn't fuckin know) so she replies with "how do I know you're actually going to the doctors then if you've not got a reason"
And I was already agitated at this point so I got so pissed off, like shaking with anger kinda pissed off, and I told her i DO have a reason she just isn't getting to know and if she really wanted to be that nosey and had a problem with me not telling her my private business she is more than welcome to talk to my mum when she comes for me. That lady didn't say another word and handed me my lil slip and I walked out the door still shaking cuz I usually don't do confrontation lol
She must have been a temp or something cuz she wasn't there for very long, thank GOD (either that or she was just shit at her job). I always got super nervous after that if I ever needed to leave school for whatever reason in case I got her again.

Reminds me of when a substitute marked me and 5 other students as late because our head of year asked us to wait with him to discuss our GCSEs. Couldn’t have said no and would have rather not, but still got it on my record. Utter bs

People like that are the reason we have anxiety about going to doctors appts and what not. Gross.

I had to go to the next town over for my orthodontist and my mum would always take me out for shopping and coffee afterwards 🤣 I think she liked bunking off work as much as I did school. She'd bring me back for the last lesson of the day and tell reception that the traffic was awful

You got it absolutely spot on. What is the deal with every member of the faculty thinking they're running a government re-education camp? ....Oh wait

We had the best administrative workers and janitors ever, cared so much for the kids, would stand up for them, be sympathetic etc.
They inspired me to pursue a career in administration

I love this woman. We've all met her. It's such a power play. The heavy sigh and rolling of the eyes before she even addresses her. These ''problems'' actually make her life worth living.
